Are you and your teen struggling to connect?
Are you worried you’ll never be able to have a conversation again?
Are you just unsure if they are navigating their social world?
Adolescence is such an exciting time of rapid growth that can be filled with unexpected challenges. Navigating through what seems like uncharted territory can quickly become difficult and begin feel unmanageable. Extra support can help lighten the burden of going through this stage alone. With therapy, you and your teen can strengthen your relationship by learning effective skills to improve communication and tackle obstacles as they come.
What to expect in counseling?
My priority is to provide a comfortable and safe working environment where your teen can work at their own pace. I encourage active, collaborative, participation, that empowers teens to identify goals, clarify their thought processes, and establish strategies for change. In doing so they also learn to evaluate their decision making and coping skills. Together we will identify your teen’s strengths and highlight how they can utilize them for support, as well as pin pointing other areas that will benefit from further development.
Our sessions will focus on strengthening relationships, challenging thought processes, exploring personal values, and evaluating the effectiveness of current coping styles. Giving attention what’s going well and how they can make changes to habits that may not be serving them any longer. I like to provide clients with current information about this critical development stage as it can help to strengthen their awareness to what they are experiencing and gain confidence in their ability to find ways to help themselves. My approach is friendly and engaging.
